Tarpon Springs Police Detectives are currently working an armed robbery that occurred on Friday, 10/12/12, at approximately 10:26 PM. Two black males wearing masks entered Liquors of Tarpon, at 604 S. Pinellas Ave. and demanded cash from the register. One of the males brandished a dark colored handgun while ordering the clerk to open the register for his partner. The males were described as follows: The male wearing the maroon Tarpon Springs High School Sponger sweatshirt was approximately 5’1”, weighing 160-170 pounds. The clerk described this male as being lean and muscular. The hoodie was pulled up over his head, and he was wearing a green mask, black pants, and white Nike tennis shoes. This was the suspect who brandished the weapon. The second male was described as being approximately the same height as the first male. He was much leaner in stature, weighing approximately 140-150 pounds. He was wearing a gray Ohio State Sweatshirt, with white knee length shorts, and a black and white mask. He was also wearing white tennis shoes. He did not brandish a weapon, but did remove the cash from the register. After obtaining a large amount of cash, the suspects removed a bottle of vodka from a shelf near the back of the store before running south towards a vehicle in which they fled from the scene. No tag was obtained from the vehicle. No other vehicle description was provided by witnesses.
